Stringer
The long boards (or beams) between top and bottom decks that carry the load.
Block
Wood blocks used instead of stringers — they open all four sides to handling equipment.
Deck boards
The boards that make up the top and bottom surfaces of a pallet.
2-way / 4-way
How many sides forks or pallet jacks can enter from.
#1 / #2 grade
Used-pallet grades. #1 has few or no repairs; #2 shows repairs and costs less.
HT
Heat treated — the treatment code stamped on ISPM-15 compliant wood packaging.
Skid
A pallet-like base without a bottom deck, common for machinery and heavy freight.
GMA pallet
The 48×40 stringer pallet standard used widely across North America.
